March 31 2019!!! So apparently this has been sitting in my "draft" file for many many MANY months. I can't carry on and proceed with 2019 race write ups and adventure/life lesson posts without getting this out of my draft box and into the universe. So here it is: A "summer" of races all leading up … Continue reading A Summary of Summer Races
In the world of ultra running, there's a lot of talk about suffering and struggling, but mostly suffering. We all talk about it, we hate it, we love it, we glorify it. The challenge. The rawness of it. We suject ourselves to suffering time and time again. The strugglebus. The sufferfest. But what really is suffering? What does it mean to suffer? Most men either compromise or drop their greatest talents and start running after, what they perceive to be, a more reasonable success, and somwhere in between they end up with a discontented settlement. Safety is indeed stability, but it is not progression. - Chriss Jami, Killosophy Chuckanut 50K, the official start of my 2018 race … Continue reading Chuckanut 50K
12:24:19 My official finish time. It's taken me months to process it and I don't even know what emotion I was feeling as I crossed that finish line. May 27, 2017 My 2nd 25K trail race, a local race, directed by friends! This race fell only 20 days after the BMO Vancouver Marathon, which was my 1st A-race of the season. I probably highly underestimated how much that would take out of me and how much I'd still be recovering from it at … Continue reading Run for Water: 25K Trail Race
